Free llms.txt Generator
Enter a website and get a ready-to-edit llms.txt in the
llmstxt.org format,
built from your sitemap and your pages' own titles and descriptions.
Could not generate an llms.txt
Editable: change the summary or remove links before you download. Titles and descriptions come from the site itself.
Upload the file to your site root so it is served at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt as plain text
(for most hosts: the public/ or web-root folder). Open the URL afterwards to confirm it shows the text, not an HTML page.
Shopify doesn't let you upload arbitrary files to the site root, so /llms.txt needs an app or a proxy.
SeoAiX publishes it for your store and refreshes it as your catalog changes.

What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a plain Markdown file at the root of a website that gives language models a compact map of the site. The format was proposed in 2024 and is documented at llmstxt.org. The idea: instead of an AI tool parsing navigation, scripts and layout, it can read one short file that says what the site is and where the useful pages are.
The spec describes a simple structure, in this order:
- An
# H1with the site or project name (the only required part). - A
> blockquotewith a one-line summary. - Optional paragraphs with more context.
## Sectionsof links in the form- [Title](url): description.- An
## Optionalsection for links that can be skipped when context is short.
# Example Co
> Example Co makes invoicing software for small agencies.
This file lists the main pages of example.com for language models and AI assistants.
## Main pages
- [Pricing](https://example.com/pricing): Plans and what each includes.
- [About](https://example.com/about): Who we are and how we work.
## Docs
- [Getting started](https://example.com/docs/start): Set up your first invoice.
## Optional
- [Privacy Policy](https://example.com/privacy) An honest note on support: llms.txt is a proposal, not an adopted standard. Whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini or Google's AI features read it when answering questions is not publicly confirmed for most of them, and it can change. Some AI coding tools and documentation platforms do use it. It costs little to publish, but it will not make up for thin pages, missing structured data or a broken sitemap.
llms.txt vs robots.txt vs sitemap.xml
| File | Purpose | Format | Who reads it |
|---|---|---|---|
| robots.txt | Which URLs crawlers may fetch | Plain-text directives | Search and AI crawlers |
| sitemap.xml | Every URL you want indexed | XML | Search engines |
| llms.txt | A curated summary of your key pages | Markdown | Language models and AI tools (where supported) |
llms.txt does not control access. To allow or block AI crawlers, use robots.txt.
Use it from an AI agent or the API
The same generator is available as the generate_llms_txt tool on the

What is an llms.txt file?
llms.txt is a Markdown file served at the root of a website (example.com/llms.txt) that gives language models a short, curated overview of the site: its name, a one-line summary, and lists of links to the most useful pages with brief descriptions. The format is proposed at llmstxt.org.
Do ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Google actually read llms.txt?
Support is not guaranteed. llms.txt is a community proposal, not a standard that AI crawlers have committed to, and most providers have not said whether their crawlers use it. Some developer tools and AI coding assistants do fetch it. Publishing one is cheap and harmless, but treat it as a complement to good pages, structured data and a sitemap, not a replacement.
Where do I put the llms.txt file?
Upload it to the root of your domain so it is served at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt as plain text. On Shopify you cannot upload arbitrary files to the site root, so you need an app or a proxy to serve it; SeoAiX publishes and refreshes it for Shopify stores automatically.
Is llms.txt the same as robots.txt or sitemap.xml?
No. robots.txt tells crawlers which URLs they may fetch. sitemap.xml lists every URL you want indexed, for search engines. llms.txt is a short, human-readable Markdown summary of your most important pages, written for language models. They do different jobs and you can have all three.
How does this generator build the file?
It reads your home page, the Sitemap lines in robots.txt and your XML sitemap, then fetches a sample of key pages such as pricing, about, docs and product pages for their titles and meta descriptions. Pages are grouped by URL section. It uses your site's own wording; nothing is rewritten by AI, so review and edit the result before publishing.
